Mark Sopko was a Minneapolis architect and an avid runner. In March 2006, after a decade long battle with Lymphoma, Mark passed away. Mark’s good friend Michael
Schrock posed the idea of a memorial run; thus Sop’s Hop 5k was born. In February of 2008, Michael was tragically struck by a vehicle and killed while on an early morning walk. This race is a celebration of both Mark & Michael, friends whose lives were cut short far too early. Sop’s Hop 5k is a USATF Certified 5k Course timed by Rick Recker.
Proceeds from registration fees will benefit the Lymphoma Research Foundation.
WHERE:
The race starts at Lake Nakomis.
WHEN:
Race starts at 9:55am. On-site registration begins at 8am on Saturday, June 6th, 2009.
AWARDS:
Prizes to top Male and Females in Open, Masters, and Youth categories.
GIVEAWAYS:
Sop’s Hop 5k logo apparel, to be determined.

FEE:
$20 minimum donation for all participants of run.

3. Register and join "Sop's Hop 5k Run" team.
4. Donate at least $20 (we encourage that runners raise more money before race day).
5. You will be automatically registered for the run. Just show up and grab a bib in the morning. Show up with time to spare.
